New confirmed acts - Alyona Alyona & The Brian Jonestown Massacre

In less than 100 days, the Elevate Festival will start for the 18th time in Graz. This year, the festival team is particularly pleased to be able to present a comprehensive club music programme in the heart of the Schlossberg, but also concerts at summery open-air locations.

New confirmations also include Ukrainian rapper Alyona Alyona, as well as American cult band The Brian Jonestown Massacre, who will perform this year's closing concert at the Orpheum in Graz.

Alyona Alyona

"One of Ukraine's few female rappers, Alyona Alyona spits lightning-fast flows - and zero expletives." – Josie Thaddeus-Johns, The New York Times

The kindergarten teacher from a small town near Kiev became a national sensation practically overnight in 2018 after her debut video "Ribki" went viral on the local music scene. Alyona Alyona is considered one of the most important Ukrainian hip-hop icons and an unstoppable force of nature with both feet firmly on the ground.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre

The Brian Jonestown Massacre is one of the most famous psychedelic rock bands in the world. The media call their music "stoned psychedelia" and "narcotised dream-rock", in fact their numbers are highly trippy - a mixture of Doors and Velvet Underground, as it were - and infiltrate various elements from genres such as shoegaze, folk and garage rock, from blues and country. The result is an unmistakably hallucinatory, hypnotic, 60s-inspired sound that has influenced dozens of bands.
